Class 9 engages with nature at the School Eco Park

The students of The Indian School (Class IX) visited tje School Eco Park on 20 January 2025. The trip was an entertaining and educational experience, often referred to as edutainment. Observing multiple beds sown with vegetables and engaging with the life size models in the Science Park provided an opportunity to learn new concepts through interactive activities. Handling the soil and exploring scientific models made the visit both informative and exciting.

A wide variety of scientific models were present at the site. These included the structure of NaCl crystals (common salt) and a model of the structure of DNA. Additionally, there was a model of Newton's coloured wheel, demonstrating the dispersion of light and Newton's Cradle, which illustrated the conservation of momentum. Another model, based on the principle of the persistence of vision, featured a board with a parrot on one side and a cage on the other. When spun rapidly, it created an illusion of the parrot being inside the cage!

Experiencing these scientific demonstrations in a real-world setting was a rare and enriching opportunity. Before leaving the farm, students played a round of volleyball, football, and some athletics. Towards the end of the visit, fresh vegetables from the farm were distributed, some of which were picked by the students themselves.

In conclusion, the visit to eco park provided a valuable hands'-on learning experience. The teachers played a crucial role in supervising the students and ensuring their well-being throughout the trip. The trip was an excellent example of learning through experience.
