The excited chatter of students reverberated through hall number 11 of Pragati Maidan that was lined with strings of book stalls. It was a sultry morning on 2 August 2023, when the students of class IX set out on a School trip to the Delhi Book Fair 2023.
The massive hall boasted of books of diverse genres and languages that lined the shelves.
The young and exuberant visitors embarked on a journey, as it were, to the magical world of books, as they visited each stall with the same enthusiasm, going through the literary geniuses of Agatha Christie, Jeff Kinney, Sudha Murthy, J.K. Rowling, Suzanne Collins, Markus Zusak, John Green, James Dashner, Angie Thomas, Gene Luen Yang and the likes. The students were indeed spoilt for choice!
There were books on a wide range of subjects like fiction, fantasy, biographies, cookery, popular science, religion, art etc. The bookstalls also offered a magnificent collection of resource books for competitive examinations.
In addition to an extensive range of books, the alluring stalls selling colourful stationery attracted throngs of visitors. A delightful assortment of home decor items, exquisite keychains, sophisticated watches, charming notepads, and captivating miniature action animal figures found a huge fan base too!
After a fulfilling shopping spree, the students relished scrumptious fare at the food corner.
This enriching visit not only offered a vast variety of books, but also provided students with an invaluable opportunity to develop essential money management skills, just as they learnt how to spend their money wisely.
