Class II excursion to Places of Worship

On Tuesday 24th January 2017, students of class II were taken on a short tour of the different places of worship in the neighbourhood. They were accompanied by their class teachers.

Most students had visited either a temple or a gurudwara, or church or a mosque. But they had never been to any place of worship other than their own. It was therefore a novel experience and learning to discover the different places of worship together.

The journey began with a visit to Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Defence Colony. After a brief explanation about the significance of the gurudwara amongst the Sikhs, the group proceeded to the Ramakrishna Temple next door. The children offered homage there and then went ahead to their next stop, a mosque in Defence Colony. Finally, we headed to the Centenary Methodist Church on Lodhi Road. Here we spent a few minutes in the peaceful environs of the church, before boarding our buses to return.

Seeing the various places of worship and the practices followed at each was a refreshing outdoor reinforcement of what was taught in the classroom to the children.
