As a part of the Science Week celebrations, our School hosted a highly engaging workshop conducted by Dr Abhijit Sarkar, on 9 August 2024. Dr Sarkar is a renowned senior scientist at the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), and an educator known for his pioneering work in Astrophysics. He has over three decades of experience as an accelerator physicist. Through his career, he has mentored numerous employees and students of RF Electronics.
The workshop was attended by the students of classes IX, XI, and XII, all of whom eagerly participated in activities designed to enhance their understanding of scientific concepts. The event began with an insightful discussion led by Dr Sarkar, where he shared his knowledge and experience. He emphasised the relevance of science in our everyday lives and discussed how expanding knowledge in the scientific field is crucial for societal development and growth. Dr Sarkar also highlighted the importance of innovation in science, explaining that modern tools and technologies spark curiosity and drive us to excel in various fields.
Dr Sarkar’s engaging presentation style captivated the audience, making complex scientific ideas accessible and intriguing. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, giving students the opportunity to ask Dr Sarkar questions about the topics covered or any other scientific inquiries they had. His thoughtful and detailed responses provided further insights, clarified doubts, and added immense value to the session.
The workshop not only broadened the students’ understanding of science but also ignited a passion for exploration and learning. The success of this event underscores the importance of such workshops in enhancing students’ educational experiences, and fostering a love for science among them.
