On 28 March, 2013, selected students from classes 6 to 8 visited the IIC to attend a musical show on classical film songs. The programme was organised in collaboration with the K. L. Saigal Circle.
The programme started with a power point presentation by Mr. Pran Nevile, connoisseur, on the vanishing role of the ragas in film music. He showed us rare film song clips from the beginning of Hindi cinema till about 1980.
This was followed by a concert by one Ms. Priya Kanungo (disciple of Pandit Rajan Mishra and Pandit Sajan Mishra) of songs from earlier Hindi films, like chanda re jaa re jaa re, bol re papihara and other notable songs.
Our students who were chosen for the excursion, keeping in mind their musical inclinations, were delighted and responded readily to the entire programme. Needless to say, it was an enrichment for all of us.
