Community Outreach By Pre-primary classes

Visit of elders from an old age home. September is associated with Dr. S. Radhakrishnan whose birthday is celebrated as Teachers' day. Did you know that Julie Andrews of Sound of Music fame also has her birthday in September?

This year our September birthday-children, who are about 36 in number; turned 4 ( Pre- school) and 5 ( Pre-Primary). Their birthday month was honoured by a visit of senior citizens from the old age home, Vardaan. This is another example of the customary Community Outreach that is done to share our joys on birthdays.

The elders were welcomed by the teachers and the parents of our birthday stars in the School Hall. About 15 in number, they were seated and then welcomed by the children with a rendition of the Gayatri Mantra. The children then performed an episode from their recent special assembly, Salutations to Mother Nature. Celebrating the flora and fauna in their finery, the children of Capella summoned spontaneous blessings from their audience of elders. Infact the elders were overwhelmed by the spectacle of extraordinary wisdom and entreaty from those so young and several eyes were glassy. The energetic applause of the elders seemed to elevate the awakening of our little performers!

The children also recited an Ecology prayer, " Bhoomi Mangalam" before closing with the hymn, " Praise Him". In turn the elders sang aloud Happy Birthday for the hosts.

Principal ma'am wished the visitors and thanked them for their time and the trouble of coming. Their blessing would surely be their bounty for life, she said.

One of the visitors, Mr. Khandelwal articulated how touched they all felt for the chance to join such a special occasion. He spoke very highly of our School which instilled and encouraged the children with Sanskaras such as these. Refreshments were served and shared by the gathering, as the visitors dispersed leaving handmade cloth bags for the birthday children. Mrs. Vasudev, HT, Pre-primary.
