Date with a Dream Citizenship Programme visit to Palna

Palna, which means "cradle" ( as well as "nurture" ) is a home for abandoned and homeless children. A Palna is placed just outside the gates to receive children.

Three students of class 11- Vanshita Sethi (11-C), Divij Bhargava (11-B) and Raunak Maini (11-A) visited Palna on Tuesday, 18th December'18 accompanied by Ms. Sangeeta Aswani.

It was truly a heartwarming experience for all three of us. Palna reflected a kocing home where all children have what is rightfully theirs including every opportunity to realise their potential.

There was a room for the challenged children of the 'Bal Chetna', programme and another room for infants, toddlers and older kids where the children were in the care of counsellors, nurses and caregivers.

The older children were filled with enthusiasm about participating in the activities we had planned for them and the response was exhiliarating. We asked them to draw a picture depicting A vision of India after ten years. This was part of the project- Dream on India taken up by our School.

[gallery link="file" order="DESC"] In retrospect , we felt that the circumstances of the children at Palna are easy to ignore before you know their names or see them. It is easy to pretend they aren't real before you hold their hands. But once you do, everything changes, especially ones own worldview. I felt so humbled that day by all that I am so privileged to have.

Indeed, it was an eye-opening experience for us and we look forward to more such visits.
