On 21st May, 2017, students of our School participated in a debate held at Modern School Vasant Vihar. The participants were Saumyaa Saxena, Avantika Chodha and Aatif Husain of classes XI and XII.
The debate was organised in a modified Cambridge Parliamentary format, preceded by a preliminary round of Extempore-Turncoat style debate. The debate proceedings were conducted by media analyst Mr. Parnab Mukherjee, who was moderator as well as judge for the event.
The topics of the debate ranged from issues such as the linking of the Aadhaar to the PAN, the relevance of Ambedkarian ideologies in present times, censorship in the Indian media and various others.
Our team qualified for the Semi-Final Parliamentary round, and Saumyaa Saxena received the award for "Second Best Speaker - Semi-Finals." The team from Mayo College Girls School took the first position, while the team from Modern School, Barakhambha Road came second.
