Deer park excursion, Pre- primary department

On 24 and 29 January, 2014, PS and PP respectively went on an excursion to the Deer Park. We started with a short but invigorating nature walk, observing the different vegetation on the way. We felt the barks of trees, collected varied leaves and tried o catch the colours of the butterflies! The children saw numerous deer and the peacock. They squealed in delight as they spotted them! The differences in the appearances of the male and female deer and features of their habitat were pointed out to them. The children were enthralled to see the beautiful feathers of the dancing peacock.

Some fun activities like, hop scotch, I sent a letter , Queen of Sheba etc were also set up. Later we all settled down to a round of refreshing lemonade that we had carried with us.

This excursion helped the children indulge in group activity as also to learn to observe and respect nature. The children quickly understood that even though they were excited, they should abstain from disturbing the deer who may not be used to seeing so many visitors at a time!
