Diwali presentation by Pre School Capella

Light is the harbinger of joy, prosperity and eternal bliss of the soul.

Lights illuminate every corner of India during Diwali and the scent of incense sticks hang in the air, mingling with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope. Diwali is a festival of joy and prosperity.

On this auspicious occasion, Pre-school Capella presented a special assembly, which was held on 5th November 2018. The assembly began with a narration and a skit that told the mythological tale of Diwali while highlighting some beliefs and customs associated with it. The children were told that Diwali marks the return of Lord Ram, Prince of Ayodhya, with Sita and brother Lakshman after 14 years of exile and after vanquishing the demon king, Ravan. The people of Ayodhya were overjoyed on their return that they lit trains of oil lamps along the way as a welcome for their beloved trio.

During the assembly, the children made a pledge to forgo bursting crackers, to keep the noise and air pollution levels low. A song of the light and cheer followed, filling the atmosphere with rhythm and festivity.

The assembly was a lesson in confidence building and enhancing the speaking skills of each child. Each child was trained to speak a few lines on the importance of Diwali and how we should celebrate it in an eco-friendly manner.

The teachers traced life size rangoli patterns which were devoutly filled in with flower petals by the children, as directed by their teachers. The children could be seen carefully peeling the petals in the order of the colour required and then clutching them gently between the fingers to place them in the spaces shown! It was a collaborative and delightful display of skill! It really is quite possible to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly manner and still get to enjoy oneself!

The assembly concluded with our Head Teacher appreciating the presentation and also explaining to the children how it is important to celebrate Diwali in a clean and healthy way. Lets fill our homes with prayers and light, not fumes and crackers, she said.
