Doctors' Day celebrations

"The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease." - Sir William Osler

To commemorate National Doctors' Day on 1 July 2026, The Indian School organised a comprehensive series of health awareness programmes for students from Pre School to Class XII. The celebration honoured the invaluable contribution of medical professionals while fostering an appreciation for preventive healthcare, healthy living and the medical profession.

Through thoughtfully curated, age-appropriate sessions led by experts from diverse fields of medicine, students explored key aspects of physical well-being, nutrition, hygiene and healthcare, gaining knowledge that will support informed lifestyle choices throughout their lives.

The celebration featured a range of interactive sessions designed to address the developmental needs and interests of different age groups. The youngest learners were introduced to the role of doctors through engaging discussions, creative activities and presentations by students dressed as medical professionals, while Pre Primary students participated in an enlightening session on eye care conducted by Dr Saanchal Sethi.

The students of Classes I to IV attended informative nutrition awareness sessions led by Dr Kanika Tyagi and Ms Devina Kanoujia, who emphasised the significance of balanced nutrition and healthy daily habits.

An oral health awareness session for Class V, conducted by Dr Upasna Sharma Joshi, highlighted preventive dental care and good oral hygiene practices. Senior students from Classes IX to XII benefited from an inspiring interaction with distinguished alumnus Dr Bhavyaa Arora, who shared his academic and professional journey, provided valuable guidance on pursuing a career in medicine and offered insights into the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in radiology and contemporary healthcare.

The Doctors' Day celebration successfully combined health education with career awareness, enabling students to develop a deeper understanding of the importance of physical well-being and the responsibilities associated with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Equally significant, the interactions with accomplished healthcare professionals fostered respect for the medical fraternity and offered students a meaningful perspective on the dedication, compassion and lifelong commitment that define the profession. The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of the enduring importance of preventive healthcare and the collective responsibility of nurturing healthy habits that contribute to healthier individuals and communities.
