Educational Excursion to Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj

The Indian School organised a four-day educational excursion to Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj during the first week of June 2026 for 120 students of Classes X, XI and XII, accompanied by 12 teachers. Travelling by an AC deluxe coach, the group enjoyed a comfortable overnight journey to one of Himachal Pradesh's most scenic destinations. The students stayed at Mount View Hotel in McLeod Ganj, where they were greeted each morning by breathtaking views of the majestic Dhauladhar range. Surrounded by pristine landscapes, cool mountain air and lush greenery, the excursion provided an ideal setting for students to appreciate the beauty and tranquillity of the Himalayan region.

The first day introduced students to the rich cultural heritage of McLeod Ganj through a visit to a renowned monastery, where they experienced the calm, discipline and spiritual traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. The peaceful surroundings encouraged reflection and offered valuable insights into a unique way of life. Later, students explored the vibrant local market, browsing traditional handicrafts, souvenirs, and local delicacies while experiencing the town's lively atmosphere.

The second day brought students closer to nature with visits to the spectacular Bhagsu Waterfall and the amazing Naddi View Point. The refreshing waters of the waterfall, surrounded by dense greenery and rocky trails, offered a memorable experience, while the panoramic views of the snow-capped Dhauladhar range from Naddi View Point left everyone mesmerised. The serene beauty of the mountains provided countless opportunities for photography and a quiet appreciation of nature.

The third day featured one of the highlights of the excursion, a visit to the iconic HPCA Cricket Stadium. Nestled amidst the mountains, the stadium impressed students with its stunning location and world-renowned beauty. The group also visited the lush tea gardens of Dharamshala, where they admired the rolling green plantations and enjoyed freshly brewed iced tea while learning about the region's tea cultivation.

Every destination offered new experiences that deepened their understanding of the region's history, culture and natural environment while strengthening friendships and creating lasting memories. The excursion successfully combined education, adventure and cultural immersion, providing students with a rewarding learning experience beyond the classroom.
