'Eloquence'- an inter-school competition based on English Literature

Competitions are an important part of our School agenda. Students are regularly trained and sent to participate in inter school competitions 'Eloquence', an inter-school competition, hosted by KR Mangalam on 29th July 2016 was one such event.

The competition comprised of two events Tramedy and Hot Pursuit. 'Tramedy', as the name suggests, was an unusual mix of tragedy and comedy. In this event, the participants had to deliver the tragic speech of any character from an English play in a humorous manner! The participants were allowed to use props. Srinjoy Mukherjee of class VIII participated in this event and did a marvellous job! The audience and the judges were full of praise for his performance.

The second event was 'Hot Pursuit' where participants were required to reinterpret a famous English play, novel or poem in a comic manner. The reinterpretation could take any of the following three forms: dialogue between two characters, news' reporting or narration. A title was given to the participants on the spot. They were given 90 seconds to prepare their scripts. Syed Mubashshir Ali of class XII and Bhawika Sharma of class XI were handed the title Othello and their attempt at reinterpretation was quite successful and they too received a hearty applause from the audience. The event started at 10 am and concluded by 12:30 pm. 27 schools from around Delhi and the NCR participated in the events.

It was a treat to watch students put up such brilliant performances in a short span of time. Kudos to the host school for organising a wonderful event!
