Environment Week in the Pre Primary
You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you, what you do makes a difference, and you have to decided what kind of difference you want to make Jane Goodall
The students of Pre Primary observed Environment Week from 24th to 28th April, 2017. The objective of this exercise was to nurture a sensitivity for the environment amongst the children with a wide range of fun and interactive educational activities.
On the first day, the children were taken for a nature walk around the School premises. They were guided to observe the trees, the flowers, the soil, pebbles, besides the hues and fragrances of Mother Nature. They touched and felt textures and observed the varying shapes and sounds of things around them. The children were observant and seemed curious and happy to notice things around them, as their teachers spoke to explain.
Following the nature walk, students were asked to draw what they saw, felt, heard and smelled, Believe it or not each expression was unique!

A Trash Sorting activity was conducted the next day where students were shown different items of trash which they see on an everyday basis, like aluminum foil, plastic bottles, milk cartons and so on. The aim of this activity was to familiarise them with items that can and those that cannot be recycled. The children further classified some items into plastic, aluminium, paper and glass.
On the last day, students were handed badges in the shapes of trees, water droplets and bulbs with a slogan each, to encourage them to become more responsible towards their surroundings.
The students participated with enthusiasm and honesty and it was a lovely exercise of enquiry for one and all.
