Excursion for class 9 to the school eco park
On 23 November 2022, 48 students of class 9, with their teachers, Ms Sumi Dennis Simon and Mr Shankar Sarkar visited the School eco park. It was our first trip to the farm post pandemic.
It took us about an hour and forty minutes to reach our destination. During the journey, we were filled with anticipation and excitement. As we approached the farm, it looked very lush and green from the distance and the air was crisp with the smell of fresh earth and produce. The Aravalli hills stood in the distance.
We alighted at our destination and stepped out in the open expanse. After stretching ourselves and taking in 'earthy ambience' we spread ourselves amidst the flora and fauna and got to work to sketch. Once done, we submitted our sketches and were given the option to either play volleyball or visit the science park to reinforce our scientific concepts through the science models installed there.

Later, we were divided into two groups to go vegetable picking. There were rows of ready vegetables on their stems, including brinjals and turnips. We were divided into smaller groups and were given an opportunity to pick only the fully ready produce with our own hands.
It was an incredible experience of picking out the vegetables from the wet earth. It was our first time at harvesting vegetables! The farm fresh vegetables included cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, spinach, mustard, coriander, etc. The senses were asunder with the fresh fragrance.
Reluctantly we boarded our buses for the journey back to School. Each one carried a bag of fresh produce to take home. We continued with our spirited conversation about our novel experience on the farm!
We will cherish this day forever.
