On the first day, the movie screened was Chirayu about an imaginary bird which symbolises determination and courage. The movie highlighted the plight of the people of Gujarat at the time of the great earthquake of 26th January 2001 which lasted over two minutes and killed more than 19,727 and injured another 166,000 people. The movie was a grim reminder of the devastation. It highlighted the faith, courage and determination shown by the people to rise again after such a desperately unfortunate natural calamity. It also showed the tireless and selfless help rendered by humanity in the face of the upheaval, and this held out a strong message for all of us future citizens. The film was produced and directed by five renowned directors, including Shyam Benegal.

The next day, the movie screened was ' Baaja with a child protagonist, whose carefree and energetic response to reality make him a subject of annoyance for those around him. His encounters and adventures on the streets display his potential and merit and take by surprise the adults affected by his seemingly indifferent attitude. The movie gave a strong message of courage, brotherhood and concern for others. The film was written and directed by A.K. Bir, and produced by the Childrens Film Society.

The central characters in both movies were children, who showed courage. They were role models for our children. In fact we could easily connect the message with our Citizenship Programme where we regularly reach out to others in need.
