Excursion to the Delhi Book Fair
On Thursday 3rd September 2015, 67 children from classes Vth to VIIth visited the Delhi Book Fair escorted by five teachers and Head Teacher, Ms. Neena Maini.
Every year The India Trade Promotion Organisation holds the Book Fair at the Pragati Maidan. The fair showcases books on a wide range of subjects varying from science to stories, social science, poems, fiction to facts, Encyclopaedia, classics, short stories etc, the list is endless. Not only were books displayed but a creative corner was also made available where authors and illustrators interacted with children. School children from different schools were seen engrossed in drawing.

The children of our School thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They were excited to browse and purchase books on their own. They were so involved that it was arduous for each teacher to ensure no child wandered away from her group!
We visited many stalls including Kohli Books and Distributors, Scholars Hub, National Book Trust, Campfire, Amity, Sahitya Akademi, Goyal Brothers, Arya Book Depot etc. The Book Fair offers a variety with compelling prices and the numbers of people thronging the it speaks for its popularity. People of all ages seemed to be there, each for a different genre, a distinctive choice in reading material. Often something
hard to find in the local bookshop.
The children were tired and hungry at the end of two hours but were determined to visit the remaining stalls. They were delighted with the opportunity and came back happy with all books they had bought.
