Excursion to the Nehru Planetarium, class 5.

On 1 February, 2013, our School organised an educational trip to the Nehru Planetarium. Class 5 students had the opportunity to visit the Nehru Memorial Museum where they were introduced to interesting details from the life of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru with pictorial exhibits.

Next they proceeded to visit the museum for the much- awaited movie in the Sky Theatre. The special effects with the optical star projector named Megastar showed us more than 2 million stars! The 3D effects were startling and created much excitement! The show offered very useful astronomy- education through captivating video clippings. The children responded with great curiosity about the Universe, it's creation and our galaxy, The Milky Way. There was also a display of old telescopes, projection boxes and solar filters in the museum.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip and it seemed to ignite an enthusiasm in them to know more about the Universe and the stars etc. Pandit Nehru's dream aim to achieve exactly is perhaps being easily accomplished?

The planetarium was an enriching resource to student learning. As one of the children quipped, " Ma'am, the trip was awesome!"
