Face to face with Sunita Williams

On 20th of April, 2015, 2 students from our School went to the American Centre to attend a talk by Ms. Sunita Williams on astrophysics, arranged by Orange Education Pvt. Ltd. Ms. Williams, as we all know is a NASA astronaut who holds the record for the longest single space flight by a woman (195 days); greatest number of spacewalks by a woman (7) and the longest spacewalk for a woman (50 hours, 40 minutes)

First, we saw a presentation on whether organisms will be able to survive on the Moon. Then, we were introduced to several games based on principles of science which included a maze through which we had to direct a ray of light from start to end and another one in which we had to use a lens to correct the focal length of a myopic eye etc.

Then we proceeded towards a hall where we waited anxiously for Ms.Williams to arrive. When she arrived, we were overwhelmed to see her! We simply could not believe that we were to shake hands with her! She told us about how astronauts live in a space station and also showed us a video of the same. We then had an interactive session with the celebrity where we had the privilege of patient answers to all our queries.

We felt very blessed for this unique opportunity.
