Falcon Model United Nations

The Falcon Model United Nations was organised by Apeejay School, Noida. It was a two day event conducted on 1st and 2nd September 2022. Three students of the MUN Society of The Indian School attended the event, namely, Deepanshi Moitra and Daksh Panwar of class IX and Vansh Sharma of class VIII.

7 committees wwere part of the society namely;

UNGA ( United Nations General Assembly)

UNSC ( United Nations Security Council)

UNHRC ( United Nations Human Rights council)

AIPPM ( All India Political Parties Meet)

ECOSOC ( United Nations Economic and Social Council)

UNCSW ( United Nations Commission on Status of Women)

UNODC ( United Nations office on Drugs and Crime)

Deepanshi and Vansh were a part of UNGA, the agenda of the committee being to discuss nuclear threat and non-proliferation, with special emphasis on the Iran nuclear deal. On the other hand, Daksh was a part of UNHRC, the agenda being a framework to tackle human right infringements around the world with emphasis on the Uyghurs in China.

There were various sessions during the two day event. The proceedings of the sessions were gradually paced which helped the participants to understand each other and the way the UN functions.

All the terms and rules of procedure (ROP), were explained by the Executive Board members. Delegates from the different countries shared their valuable opinions.

There were more than 50 delegates in each committee and everyone presented their own points of view. Each delegate had a distinct point of view, including forming alliances to reach the best possible solution and breaking various alliances to come to a mutual solution.

During moderated caucuses, delegates wrote impromptu speeches on the provided topics. It was challenging and engaging. Participants were required to present all the information gathered over the weeks.

It was indeed a great learning experience where the delegates learnt the art of presenting their speeches in a novel and deliberate manner to assert their influence.
