First Video Conference in Primary- beyond the walls of the classroom

The Indian School has done it again and is setting an example. In an ingenious way they have broken down all the boundaries of a typical classroom. Today the world has been brought close due to advancements in Teleconferencing Technology. This means that the classroom walls become almost theoretical; no longer would each room need to contain them and their learning, the children would have access to everything and everyone that could possibly help them along in their learning journey! TIS is connecting with schools in Delhi and plans to connect from across the globe to provide a rich cultural and educational experience to its students.

On 7th October 2015, TIS took a leap forward and held its first Teleconferencing session with the students of Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar. It was an introductory session for the students and they were taken to our teleconferencing facility off the school premises. The students from both schools were very excited to see themselves and their counterparts on the giant screen and they waved at each other and communicated with abundant enthusiasm. The session began with both schools sharing information and images of their respective schools. Every student was asked to introduce himself/herself to the counterparts on screen. It was amazing to see how confidently students began introducing themselves and asked questions about favourite movies, festivals, food, celebrities, school systems etc. Students from both schools seemed to enjoy the experience of making friends and exchanging information. Joy, enthusiasm and excitement were evident from the countenance of students participating. To summarize, it was a great experience not only for the students but also for the teaching staff who were awestruck to see the students interact and communicate with such ease. We are now looking forward to the next teleconferencing session with other schools and using technology as an aid to education. Ms. Mahima Kapoor.
