Folk Music Competition

.and the foot-tapping folk songs carrying the fragrance of the myriad parts of our country captivated the audience and the judges on a pleasant autumn morning. A group of 11 students from classes 3 to 5 and 8 participated in an inter-school folk song competition held at Gyan Bharti School, Saket on 3 October, 2015. They were accompanied by their music teachers, Mr. Sanjeev Chaudhary and Mr. Adhir Das. Our students sang a folk song from Uttar Pradesh, Sundhi sundhi matiya which was received with a vigorous applause ( and as quite anticipated), our School comfortably lifted the second prize! [gallery link="file" columns="2"] 12 schools participating in the event, including Mothers International School, Birla Vidya Niketan and Amity International School. Our participants were Anush Malik (III-C), Pratham Goel (III-D), Puja Jha (IV-B), Vaishnavi Rastogi (IV-C), Unaiza Hussain (IV-D), Kavya Shrotriya (V-B), Syed Zaid Hussain (V-B), Anish Puri (V-D), Zaina Fatima (V-D), Yatharth Bisht (V-E) and our instrumentalist Anmol Singh Gandhi (VIII-B) on the tambourine. The students were supported on the harmonium and the tablas by teachers Mr. Sanjeev Chaudhary and Mr. Adhir Das. The students returned triumphant, holding aloft their gleaming new trophy, so proud to have brought laurels for their alma mater!
