Festivals build group cohesiveness, bring people together, break the monotony of routine, and energise the body, mind, and spirit. Echoing this festive spirit, the Pre-primary students of The Indian School celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with much zeal and zest in a virtual assembly on 10 September 2021.
Ganesha is the first to be worshiped among all the gods in Hindu mythology. He is known as the God of prosperity and wisdom who removes all obstacles, bestows happiness, and spreads peace.

Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva-Kaaryeshu Sarvadaa ||
The shloka translates as :
O Lord (Ganesha), who has a huge body, curved elephant trunk and whose brilliance is equal to billions of Suns,
May always remove all obstacles from my endeavours.
The little Indianites took turns and spoke about the festival and its significance. The keen toddlers presented a skit on the importance of the moral virtues of devotion and obedience, synonymous with the attributes exhibited by Lord Ganesh towards his parents.
The little dancing stars rocked on a medley of Ganesh songs which added splendour to the entire assembly. The spirit of celebration and fervour permeated the virtual festivities. The grand finale saw the rousing chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya!
Later, in their respective classes, the children crafted beautiful idols of Lord Ganesh from clay. The activity aimed to signify the eco-friendly celebrations of this festival. The children symbolically immersed their clay idols in water.
The festival awakened devotion, creativity, understanding, and learning amongst children.
