On the 21st August 2017, four students participated in Grey Matters, a quiz at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj. The event was divided into two categories, namely the senior and the junior. The preliminary round took place simultaneously for both categories. In the written round the teams had to answer a set of 25 questions. Anirudh Chhikara and Gauri Awasthi of classes 11 and 10 respectively, comprised the senior team while Vidhi Wadhwa of class 9 and Dibarpan of class 8 participated in the junior category.
Mr. Parnab Mukherjee, prominent literary resource curator and quiz master conducted the final round. The questions ostensibly encapsulated the audience. The most remarkable fact was that the quizmaster presented the numerous questions impromptu, within a blink of an eye and without any aid in hand! The questions ranged from history to literature, sports and music. The Komagata Maru incident, ISRO scientist Vikram Sarabhai, the first Indian to win the Arjuna and Dronacharya Awards, Wilson Jones for Billiards and famous painters where some of the topics on which the questions were based. There were audio and visual rounds as well, where the teams were required to identify the singer or recognise a famous sports person.
It was extremely enriching to be a part of this invaluable knowledge churning and refresher!
