Honour at Kala Utsav (Min of HRD)

The Indian School sent forth two bright performers for participation in the 'Kala Utsav' held at the district and state levels on 29 October 2018.

Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development to promote the arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students in the country. It is organised every year in October-November.

Kala Utsav lends opportunity to showcase helps skills of its participants at the District, State and National levels and thus prepares them to be ambassadors of our heritage. It helps students identify and understand our diverse tangible and intangible cultural expressions.

The competition was open to students of classes IX-XII and saw the participation of almost twenty schools from across Delhi- NCR. Simran Khandpur of class XB represented our School in the solo painting competition. The.participants could draw/ paint in the traditional or modern /contemporary styles with any medium. This event was held at the GV School, Safdarjung Enclave.

Sehaj Singh of class XII D competed in the solo instrumental music category. His performance on the tabla enthralled the audience with its rhythmic Taal-Teentaal, which was at 16 beats according to its classical tradition. The composition consisted of peshkaar, kayedas, tukra, rela, followed by tihai. The venue of the event was Sarvodaya Vidyalaya R.K Puram Sector. Sehaj Singh did his School proud by securing the 3rd position amidst a series of brilliant performances.
