Honour at Sophia College, Mumbai MUN
Four students of The Indian School got an opportunity to travel to Mumbai and participate in Munsophical 2023 hosted by the prestigious, Sophia College, Mumbai, 20-21 January 2023.
Haritmaa Sharma (11D), Samiya Khurana (8C), Samridh Atri (9A) and Sejal Gupta (11A) participated in the event, along with others from several schools and colleges from across the country.
MUNSOPHICAL is the annual Model United Nations conference of Sophia College. Since its inception in 2011, MUNSOPHICAL has been dedicated to encouraging novel perspectives and constructive international and domestic policies. Through an enlightening blend of international and domestic committees, it ensures that delegates get familiar with cultural and economic facets of policy-framework.
The MUN included several committees.
Haritmaa Sharma represented Shri Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha. The agenda was Reviewing the Reservation Policy of India. Over the two days, she participated in the making and breaking of various alliances. She handled her competitors, who were mostly law students, with tact and intelligence.

Sejal Gupta (Bangladesh) and Samridh Atri (Nigeria) were delegates at UNITED NATIONS WOMEN (UNW). The agenda was Atrocities faced by Women during War. Using her oratory skills, Sejal Gupta won a block in her favour against the delegate of Switzerland, who has chaired many MUNs! Sejal won High Commendation for the same, being the youngest winner from her committee.
Samiya Khurana represented Philippines in the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA). Expansion of China was the agenda of the committee.
It was a tough competition as the participants interacted and competed with college students pursuing various courses like law, policy making and commerce.
The participants of The Indian School displayed great enthusiasm and skills.
It was a great exposure and learning experience for each one of them.
The students will always be grateful to the school management and Principal Ms Tania Joshi, for giving us this platform to hone our skills and win accolades for our School.
