On 20 August 2026, 30 students from the Commerce and Humanities' streams at The Indian School, participated in the Student Design Fest 2026 at Tagore International School. They were accompanied by two teachers. The initiative was organised by the Government of India through the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting under the WAVES (World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit) initiative. Designed as an immersive half-day creative bootcamp, the programme provided students with experiential exposure to creativity, design, innovation and emerging career pathways.
The programme included a Creative Aptitude Assessment, which encouraged students to identify their strengths, think creatively and explore interdisciplinary learning. This was followed by a Student Designathon, where students worked collaboratively on real-world challenges using design thinking and innovation, developing creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
The students also participated in Mentoring Breakout sessions led by professionals and experts, covering areas such as design thinking, AI and emerging technologies, portfolio development and creative entrepreneurship.
The sessions provided valuable insights into emerging opportunities in the creative sector and encouraged students to approach learning through experimentation and innovation.
As a part of the programme, Shraddha Saini of Class XII-D received a certificate in recognition of her innovative idea, bringing special recognition to the School's participation in the fest. Shraddha presented that rather than disposing off to used notebooks, registers, scattered sheets, project files and cherished pieces of student artwork, we can give them new life as vibrant decorations, captivating displays and imaginative models.
Overall, the visit provided students with meaningful hands-on exposure to creativity, innovation, collaboration and emerging opportunities in the design and creative industries.
