Honour at Zonal Chess Championship held at our School

The Inter-school Zonal Chess Competition at The Indian School (25th to 28th July 2023) was a resounding success, bringing together students from more than 30 schools to demonstrate their prowess in chess and values of sportsmanship.

The opening ceremony set the tone with captivating dance and group song performances by our students and the presence of esteemed chief guest, Dr Ashok Kumar Tyagi, DDE District South, accompanied by Ms Sriparna Sinha, SPE ZONE-23. Dr. Tyagi's inspiring address emphasised the significance of chess and its potential as training ground to learning Psychology.

Through the competition, 62 teams showcased thei skills. The tournament's format included 1v1 matches with three players representing each side, all diligently monitored by our sports teachers to ensure fair play.

Despite challenges, such as heavy rain on Day 2, the participants remained dedicated and enthusiastic. The Senior Boys team and Senior Girls team of our School secured the Third Position.

The final day featured intense finals and 3rd-place matches, with winners from various categories honoured at a special presentation ceremony.

In the end, the event showcased not only the winners but also the importance of active participation, personal growth, and sportsmanship. The perseverance and dedication displayed by all participants truly exemplified the success of the sports event.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the schools, players, officials, and volunteers who made this event a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved. The Inter-school Zonal Chess Competition at The Indian School left a sense of camaraderie and a passion for chess, inspiring all participants to cherish the memories of this remarkable tournament.
