Honour at Zonal Level Cultural Competition ( Instrumental Music) 2019-20
Several leading schools in Delhi hosted the Zonal Level Cultural Competition of the Department of Education in their respective premises between 16 July and 31 July 2019. The event were categorised in four groups - Literary, Visual, Theatre, Music and Dance activities.
The Indian School hosted the Instrumental Music Competition in the sub-categories of swar and percussion on 22 July 2019.
12 schools of Zone 23 participated in this musical gala - Amity International School, Saket, Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar, Apeejay School, Saket, Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas, to name a few.

Swar saw 12 participants registering while the percussion category attracted 15 participants. The judges for the two competitions were Mr Prashant Pradhan and Mr Vijay Kumar.
The competition started with the first sub-category, Swar. The young musicians were asked to play a string/wind instrument- sitar, violin, sarod, flute, harmonium etc. The atmosphere was bathed in ragas and notes.
The talented artists showcased a vast repertoire of ragas to enchant the judges and audience alike. Our student Deeposri Chowdhury of class IX C played Raga Bhupali on the violin. She was adjudged the Best Player at the event.
In the percussion category, the students beat a steady rhythm on the tabla, pakhawaj and dholak to cast an entrancing spell of taal. Hi In this category our participant was Jayant Kumar of class IX-D.
The teachers and students of The Indian School derived much pleasure and learning in organising the event.
The first, second and third position holders will further compete at the district level.
