Honours at 9th Goenkan Grandeur- inter school music event

A group of 25 students of classes VIII to XII participated in a Hindi patriotic song competition (group) at the annual Gayatri Devi Goenka Memorial Cultural Festival at the G.D. Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, on 27th April,2017. They were escorted by their teachers, Ms. Parul Singh, Mr. Adhir Das, Mr. Gopinath Swain and Mr. Siddharth Dalbehra.

The competition showcased a variety of patriotic songs mostly composed by their own teachers. Our students sang Man samarpit tan samarpit aur yeh jeevan samarpit written by the famous poet, Ram Avtar Tyagi. The performance received a thumping round of applause by the audience. The students who participated at the competition were :

Vocals: Yuvraj Acharya (VIII), Sifti Singh Sarang (VIII), Gurmehr Gulati (VIII), Srishneet Kaur (IX), Nandita Khati (IX), Dhruv Rathi (IX), Ronit Narang (IX), Dhriti Chatterjee (X), Jai Kapur (X), Unnat Sadh (X) Ananya Sahdev (X), Milanpreet Kaur (XI), Shivangini Sharma (XI), Chirag Singh (XI) Saruby Sharma (XII), Bedanto Sen (XII) and Arunima Palit (XII) . Prabhav Kapur (VIII) played the harmonium. Jagmeet Singh (VIII) & Sachin Dayal (X) played the violin. Raunak Maini (X) & Sathya Deep Khullar (XI) played the flute while the tabla was played by Anmol Singh Gandhi (X) & Vadish Kardam (XI). Chirag Chawla(IX) played the Percussion.

14 schools participated in the event and our team secured the 3rd position. Prizes were also awarded for extraordinary individual performances. Vadish Kardam was adjudged the best tabla accompanist.
