Math is everywhere. It is in the objects we create; in the works of art, we admire. From the structure of buildings to the discovery of new planets, from trade to fashion and new technologies, Math always serves as an important tool in the development of science and technology, in fields as diverse as engineering, biology, philosophy and the arts.
Keeping this perspective in mind, an online science and mathematics competition Scient-O-Mathio-Fabio was held by Birla Vidya Niketan from 27 to 29 October, 2020.
On the first day there was a science quiz for classes 6 to 8 and a Capsquiz based on critical thinking and problem-solving. Here Krunal Patel and Kanav of Class VIII B represented our School.
On 28 October, two events-Discovery Summit and Mathaholic Research Contest were held. The event required participants to showcase any investigatory research in the field of mathematics using a power point presentation. Maitreyi Purandare and Damak Saxena of class X-D participated in these events to showcase their finds.
On the third day, Gauri Bahuguna and Nishita Sharma of class XI-B participated in the event Designing a Dream House for which they designed a house with a floor plan using a composition of basic geometric shapes and other math tools. Their efforts were appreciated and the duo secured the Third Position in the event.
On the same day, Uday Beswal of class XII A participated in "War of Words", an innovative interpretation of the world of Math in the form of a debate. The participants spoke on the topic, High school mathematics is still relevant in this modern age of super computers. It was wonderful to hear fresh viewpoints and ideas and analytical thought-provoking responses from the speakers of the different participating schools.
