Honours at inter school Aero modelling competition

The third Aeromodelling Competition was organised by Indias Hobby Shack on 1 December 2018 at the Tyagraj Stadium. 15-20 schools from across Delhi-NCR and several states participated in this grand aeromodelling event.

Ms. Chandrima Mukherjee escorted our School team of seventeen participants. Four students Ainesh Das (7-A), Diya (7-C), Jagmeet Singh (9-E) and Shourya Fulfagar (4-C) comprised our official entries and the remaining thirteen were participants in the Open category.

Mr. Maharaj Singh, retired air force officer and Mr. Michael Sheffer, commercial pilot were the chief guests on the occasion. A drone showered flower petals on the distinguished gathering during the ribbon cutting ceremony. There were various categories in which students participated-multicopter flying, RC plane, string flying, pigeon, piddi and tiny-tot gliders, etc.

The competition commenced at 9 am with multicopter flying, followed by string flying, and then RC plane flying. Meanwhile, piddi, pigeon and tinytot events took place simultaneously at the other end of the stadium.

In multicopter flying, the participant had to manoeuvre the drone in loops while in the RC plane flying, the perfection of the stunts performed was considered. The participants were required to assemble their own gliders with the kit provided and the planes glide time was recorded.

The visitors enjoyed the impressive display of models of helicopters, planes and drones and the flying prowess of the young competitors. The award-winning ceremony was eventful for our School with three of its open category entries winning the coveted top positions Sushant Kumar Aggarwal (V-B) (First position junior category), Mukul Verma(V-B) (Third position junior category) and Dhruv Sharma (X-B) ( First position multicopter flying).

The winners received a trophy and a Certificate of Appreciation. It was an amazing learning and entertaining experience for the young aero modellers.
