Honours at inter school Hindi and Sanskrit Language Festival held by DPS, RK Puram

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram held an online inter school Language Festival on 15 and 16 January, 2021. The event was divided into many competitions. Around 40 schools comprising branches of DPS, Tagore International School (Vasant Vihar), Lotus Valley International School-Noida, Ryan International School-Vasant Kunj and many others participated in the same.

There were four competitions relating to the study of Hindi.

1 Kavita Paath: The event was open for classes VI-VIII. Participants had to recite either a self-composed poem or any poem composed by a Hindi poet. Our School was represented by Kaavya Gera of class VIII.

2. Kathan Ke Aalok Mein: Students of classes IX-X were allowed to participate in the event. Participants were provided a famous quote or statement written by an author or poet and were expected to prepare a speech on the same in half an hour. Maanya Arora of class 9 participated in this event.

3. Daastaan Goi: The event was open for classes IX-X where schools were represented by a team of two students. Participants had to recreate the Daastaan or story written by any Hindi poet/author in the form of a poem or as prose. Zunaira Husain of class XI participated in this event.

4. Swarachit Lekhan: The event saw participation from the students of classes IX-X. Participants had to recite a self-composed poem or sing a song or narrate a story of any one of the given topics and then submit a video footage of their work. The topics were:

1 Mera lakshya hai ab 2 Door nahin hai manzil 3 Aansoo aur muskaan 4 Aayega savera 5 Mitti ki kasam

Mannsi Agrawal of class IX participated in this event and won the Third Prize. She composed a beautiful piece on the topic Aayega savera. Her poem aimed at motivating people to remain happy and positive during this pandemic.

Apart from Hindi, the festival comprised three competitions in Sanskrit. These were as follows.

1 Story Telling Competition- In this competition, participants from classes VI-VIII had to present a short story using puppets as props. Aahana Bhalla of class VIII-D participated in this event.

2 Shlok Gayan Competition The event was open for students from classes IX-X. Participants had to recite (with musical instruments like the harmonium) any five Sanskrit shlokas and explain their meaning. Kumar Ritovash of class IX-D participated in this event.

3 Digital Poster Making Competition- In this event, participants were to compose a Digital Poster on any one of the given topics. The event was open for students from classes VI-VIII. The topics that were given out were.

1 Desire should be in consonance with Dharma.

2 The person who helps us in our difficult times is our relative.

3 Strong minded people though repeatedly hindered by difficulties do not give up what they have once begun.

4 The mind of the steadfast remains unperturbed.

Gaauresh Paul of class VIII-E participated in this event and secured the Third Position.

It was a wonderful experience for all the students who participated in the events. Such competitions boost the confidence apart from giving students an opportunity to showcase their talent.
