Honours at Sarala Birla Memorial Business Quiz, 2016
On 2nd August 2016, a group of 4 students comprising Anant Sharma (XII-B), Muskan Anand (XII-B), Chinmaya Iyer (XII-B) and Divtesh Singh (XII-B) along with Ms. Sangita Verma, went to the Birla Vidya Mandir School at Nainital for the 2nd Sarala Birla Memorial Business Quiz.
The group arrived at Nainital close to 2 p.m. They were escorted around the extraordinary 72 acre campus of BVM by the students of the school. The group also got a chance to visit the famous Mall Road and sample the beauty of Nainitaal a day prior to the competition. The students along with Ms. Verma were accommodated by the host school at a government tourist guest house. The remainder of the day was spent in preparation for the quiz.
3rd August was the day of the competition. In total, there were 16 schools participating.
The competition began with a preliminary round of 50 questions taken from diverse areas within the field of business and economics. This heated round lasted a good one hour.

The 6 qualifying teams, from the preliminary round made it to the stage, where the main quiz began. The quiz consisted of 9 rounds of which the first 5 were conducted in the old school quizzing style. The last four rounds were buzzer rounds, in which the first team to tap the buzzer got a chance to attempt the question. The catch was that in the buzzer round, a wrong answer meant minus 5 on the score chart! At the end of the 9 long rounds, the victors were Inspiration Academy, followed by St. Marys Convent, Nainital and Mann Public School, New Delhi.
The students of our School received the Special Performers Prize. Mrs. Verma also received a memento from the host school.
After the event, the group had a quick evening snack at the school after which they left for Kathgodam Railway Station to board the train back to Delhi. Finally, on the morning of 4th August, the train reached Old Delhi Railway Station, concluding the excursion.
