Honours at Shriteq, an inter school technology fest

On 21st October 2016, a team of 5 students, Sukrit Gupta, Manav Arora, Hammad Ahmed, Shubhankar Palit and Vani Bhalla of class XI, accompanied by their teacher, Ms. Ekta Chitkara went to the Shri Ram School, Gurgaon to participate in an annual technology fest Shriteq.

The chief guest for the day was Mr. Kunal Bahl, Founder, Snapdeal.com and the host for the day was Mr. Rajiv Makhani, well-known Gadget Guru (NDTV). Our School participated in two events: Tech Quiz and The Comic Strip

Tech Quiz: Sukrit Gupta, Manav Arora and Hammad Ahmed of class XI participated in the Tech Quiz. The team qualified in the Preliminary Round to reach the Semi Final, where their answers were astute they promptly dealt with all the tie-breaking sequences.

Comic Strip: Twenty one teams participated in this category. Each team consisted of two participants from classes 10th to 12th. They were given the topic Cyber Safety on which they were to create a comic strip. An intense two and half hours of deliberation and painstaking work resulted in pieces of delightfully creative artwork. The contestants were judged on the following parameters: originality, storyline, creativity, relevance and artistic skills.

Vani Bhalla and Shubhankar Palit of class XI won the 3rd prize in this category.

Both competitions were challenging. The quiz questions were interesting and thought- provoking. Quizzes are useful as they not only equip students with a bank of information on several topics but also train them to think and respond quickly. Conducting them, particularly, at the inter-school level boosts a spirit of healthy competitiveness which is essential for every child in todays world. We are glad that we had a chance to avail of this opportunity.
