Honours at St. Michael's Confluences 2018- inter school event

A three-member team of The Indian School participated in Confluences 2018, hosted by St. Michael's School, Siliguri, on 14 and 15 September 2018. The all-girls team was accompanied by Ms. Nidhi Bhardwaj to the quaint and mystic town of Siliguri, surrounded by lush tea estates. Boarding and lodging arrangements were made by the host school at Hotel Savin Kingdom, Siliguri.

The venue for the event was the hotel itself. There were several competitions: I. B. Rai Memorial Inter School Multi-format English Debate, Model UNESCO Dialogue Forum and Inter-School Invitational Quizzes for different age groups ( Tenzing Norgay Sports and Entertainment Quiz, Francis Grocer Memorial Senior School Quiz).

Avantika Chodha of XII D, Jahnnobi Roy of XI D and Mehar Saxena of XI C participated in the general quiz and the multi-format debate. The Indian School debating team won the First Runner-Up position in the multi-format debate in a contest with Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer. The second Runner-up was BK Birla School, Pune. Avantika Chodha of XII D received the award for Best Block and Tackle.

Jahnnobi Roy and Mehar Saxena took part in the Model UNESCO dialogue forum. This event was organised by the host school for the first time. Mehar Saxena received the Honourable Mention award for her brilliant performance in the forum.

The entire experience was thrilling and knowledgeable. The accommodation and meals were well appointed and enjoyable.
