Honours at Zonal chess tournament

The Chess Championship 2019-20 of Zone-23, an inter school tournament was hosted by The Indian School from 29 July to 1 August 2019. Avid chess enthusiasts from 25 schools participated in this knock out tournament. The competition was held in several categories Boys and Girls (sub-junior, junior and senior). Each team consisted of four members.

Our School enthusiastically hosted and participated in this tournament in both the categories. On Days one and two, knockout matches were played by the girls teams. The next two days, the boys teams exhibited calm and patient demeanours as they battled through almost 4-5 rounds to qualify for the finals.
The Indian Schools senior boys, sub junior boys and junior girls teams showcased their prowess in this battle of the minds. They outwitted their opponents in a skilful display of challenging moves to emerge victorious in their respective matches.
The boys senior team and sub-junior teams won the tournament by ably beating their counter-parts from Gyan Bharati School and Mothers International school in the final round.
The junior girls team was declared First Runners up in their category.

Regular coaching is held in the school premises to hone and perfect young talent. Their hard work is reflected in the number of success stories being written consistently in the field of sports. Due to continuous success in this field our players have inculcated the belief that "winning is not everything but making the effort to win is."
