Honours in ZONAL level Inter school chess tournament

The Chess Championship 2018-19 of Zone-23, an inter school tournament, was hosted by The Indian School from 1st to 4th August, 2018. Avid chess enthusiasts of 30 schools in the zone participated in this knock out tournament. The competition was held in several categories Boys and Girls (sub-junior, junior and senior). Each team consisted of three members.

Our School took part in all the categories. On days one and two, knockout matches were played by the Girls teams. The next two days, the the Boys teams exhibited a calm and patient demeanour as they battled almost 4-5 rounds to qualify for the final round.

The Indian School senior boys, junior boys and girls, sub-junior boys and girls teams showcased their prowess in this battle of the mind and nerve. They outwitted their opponents in a skilful display of challenging moves to emerge victorious in their respective matches.

The Boys junior and sub-junior teams won the tournament by ably beating their counterparts from Birla Vidya Niketan in the final. The Senior Boys team was declared First Runners up in its category. The Girls team was the First Runners up in the sub-junior and the junior categories.

The Indian School's efforts towards holistic development of its wards paid rich dividends. Regular coaching is held on the School premises to hone and train young talent.
