ICT in Education
The workshop 'ICT in Education' conducted by NIIT at Apeejay School, conducted under the Dr. Stya Paul Memorial Mathematics Quest 2013, was attended by our teachers Ms. Alka Singh and Ms. Minoo Sethi on 9 October, 2013. The speaker was Ms. Susmita Pruthi, National Head-Learning & Delivery Management, NIIT, who spoke at length about the methods and techniques which can be adopted to bring about the transformation of schools into ICT-rich environments so as to promote universal access, extend opportunities for interaction and develop a deeper approach to learning.She emphasized constuctivism, collaborative learning and the relation between learning styles and student engagement.
Various ICT tools to develop interest among the learners were introduced to the audience.
These were MIND MAPS, Presentations, Formative Assessments, creating videos and walls. Hands- on practice was given to the participating teachers by working on free sites and softwares available online like BUBBL.US, Prezi, Testmoz, Animoto, Screencastomatic, Padlet and Thinglink.
The workshop was an enriching experience. It aimed at developing 21st century skills i.e creativity, ICT literacy, cross-cultural understanding, problem- solving ability etc. by the use of ICT.
