International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer, event by Ministry of Environment, 27 August, 2012.

In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly voted to observe September 16 as World Ozone Day to commemorate the signing of the Montreal Protocol on that date in 1987.


The Ozone Cell of the Ministry of Environment and Forests hosted 6 diverse competitions on the occasion of International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer which is celebrated on 16 September each year.



The theme of the competition held on 27 August, 2012 was 'Protection of the Ozone Layer' with the objective of focussing student attention on vital environment matters. The different categories of the competition were painting, poster- design, model-making slogan- writing, quiz and skit.



Our students, Prashansa Gupta and Trivikram Acharya, both of 10C participated in the model-making event. Their model projected the causative as well as preventive measures popularly used to preserve the ozone layer. All entries of models developed by students from competing schools of both Delhi and outstation were displayed at the India Habitat Centre.

Mahima, Aayuh and Madhurima, also of class 10, participated in the quiz on the occasion.
