Intach Filmit Awards 2016

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) aims to promote and conserve Indian heritage in a variety of ways. Recently, it partnered with Filmit, a United Kingdom group to commemorate short films produced by children in India. To carry this through, it organised a contest in which several schools across India participated. The contest saw children presenting films on a variety of topics such as heritage, taking care of animals and the environment. Some of these were outstanding pieces of work. The Felicitation Ceremony for this contest was held on 2nd February 2016. It was indeed a proud moment for us as two films from The Indian School were nominated for the Filmit Award! One of these was Citizenship which was nominated for Best Visuals while Naag Devta Temple was nominated for Best Direction. Sahil Chugh, Priyansh Agarwal and Pratham Gulati, with their teacher Ms. Ekta Bidhuri, represented School at the ceremony. The ceremony commenced with a talk by a representative of each School, wherein he/ she shared the experience of making the films. Pratham Gulati spoke on behalf of The Indian School. Each school was also expected to present a short musical, dance or drama on any aspect of Indian heritage that they felt strongly about. Priyansh Agarwal of our School presented a patriotic dance which was well appreciated. The ceremony then proceeded with the showcasing of all nominated movies that depicted the diverse heritage of our country. After the nominated movies were premiered, Chief Guest, Dr. Pant, was invited by Ms. Purnima Dutt, Principal, INTACH, to address the gathering. The Indian School received 8 certificates in various categories and a hamper of books, some of published by INTACH. The ceremony then concluded with refreshments for the guests. We now eagerly await, with renewed energy and enthusiasm, the endeavours next season wherein we are sure to get yet another opportunity to create unique visuals!
