Inter-house music and dance competition for classes VIII and IX

Great singers and dancers are not great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion.

An Inter-house music and dance competition was held in the categories Duet Classical Music and Group Folk Dance, on 5 February, 2015, for classes VIII and IX in the School auditorium.

The students presented various ragas in vocal classical style. We were pleasantly surprised to note the passion and interest with which the students participated in the two categories. The young aspiring singers rendered ragas like the Bhupali, Vrindavani Saarang, Durga and Yaman in their soulful voices, captivating the audience. It was very evident that the teams were well prepared as they out -performed one another. Nonetheless, the judges declared the team of Shivangini and Saruby of Varun House as the winners. The second prize was taken by the team of Milanpreet and Simran Narula of Chandra House.

In the Folk Group Dance category, teams from all four houses, Indra, Varun, Surya and Chandra presented the Lavani, Ghoomar, Bhangra and Dandiya .The Foundation Hall resonated with spirited rhythm and song, setting an electrifying ambience of a country where folk fervour is fittest. Mala zau denya ghari, Mharo Ghoomar chey nakhrali, Ooncha lamba kad and Rangtali rangtali rang through the hall and the audience could be seen with several tapping feet!

The contestants enthralled the audience with their well choreographed performances. Finally, the first and second prizes were taken by Chandra and Surya Houses respectively. The judges for the competition were our very own accomplished teachers, Mr. Sanjeev Chaudhary, Mr. Rajeev Massey, Mr. Gopinath Swain, Mr. Siddharth Dalbehra, and Mr. Adhir Das.
