Inter House Rangoli Competition

On 29 October 2024, The Indian School hosted an exciting inter-house rangoli making competition, an event that celebrated creativity, teamwork and cultural heritage. This annual competition aimed to not only foster a sense of community among the students but also to promote the use of eco-friendly materials in art. Prior to the event, students were informed about the competition and encouraged to bring rangoli colours and sustainable materials to create their designs.

The emphasis on using biodegradable material reflects our School’s commitment to environmental responsibility. This not only enhanced their creativity but also educated them about the impact of their choices for the environment.

The students of Surya House approached their task with enthusiasm and dedication. Working in groups, they meticulously planned their design, opting for a vibrant motif that symbolised energy and positivity. Each member took on specific roles. Some students used vibrant dry rangoli colour, while others arranged leaves and petals to add texture and depth to their creation. The group chose a stunning palette of blue, pink, and yellow, layering these hues to create a radiant effect.

The students of Indra House took a different approach. They worked with flower petals on their design. They chose a theme representing strength and power, using an array of colours from the petals they had collected. The students worked diligently, carefully arranging the petals to form intricate patterns. The vibrant floral designs complemented each other, showcasing their creativity and attention to detail.

The participants of Varun House opted for a more simplistic design, choosing to create an image of Lord Ganesh using peepal leaves and a design using yellow and red rangoli colour. The students thoughtfully arranged peepal leaves around their design, enhancing its visual appeal while also paying homage to the significance of nature in Indian culture

The students of Chandra House embraced a bright and eclectic style, using a wide range of colours, flower petals, and diyas to enhance their design. Their creativity was evident as they layered different hues and incorporated various flowers into their rangoli, creating a rich tapestry of colours.

Surya House’s victory was truly earned because of the talent and creativity of its team members: Shivangi Raizada of class 3 B, Bhuvi Gupta of class 3 D, Gurkirat Kaur of class 3 D, Anaira Taneja of class 4 C, Kritika Pradhan of class 4 C, Ananya Verma of class 5 D, and Vedant Sakuja of class 5 C, but the true success was the enthusiasm and commitment displayed by all the participants. This event highlighted the values of teamwork, creativity, and environmental consciousness within our school community.

This competition was a remarkable celebration of art, culture, and unity among students. Each house showcased its unique approach to creativity, from the diligent teamwork of Surya House to the floral elegance of Indra House, the simplicity of Varun House and the colourful celebration of Chandra House.
