Inter School Garden Event
Gardening is an art that uses flowers and plants as paints and the soil and sky as canvas.
A Garden event was held at Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri on 13 February 2020 to enable students to showcase their skills and enhance their understanding of gardening. 5 students of classes 6 to 8 of our School participated in the event which comprised a Garden Competition and a quiz based on gardening.
Thematic Garden Display
Tanishka Khandelwal and Harshika Verma of class VI and Vedaanshi Jain of class VII represented our School at the event. The brief was to create a theme based garden in the (limited) space provided to them. After a lot of deliberation the students decided to display a small garden which consisted of plants that purify the air. The arrangement of the carefully selected foliage was creatively presented to convey the significance and d plants for our existence, how these protect us from respiratory diseases as also calm our senses, increase concentration and silently heal.
Our students showcased both flowers and air purifying plants like Chlorophytums, Syngoniums Kale, Dracaena, Aloe Vera, Saplera, Spider plant, the Gerbera daisy, Peace lily, the Areca Palm and snake plants. The plants, apart from providing clean air, lent a tranquil air.
The Garden Quiz
Uday Soni and Ekveer Sahoo of class 8 participated in the Garden Quiz. It was based on flowers and their scientific names. The first round consisted of a written test comprising MCQs based on the scientific names of plants and their uses. The students of our School qualified for the second round where the questionnaire was based on identifying flowers either with the help of a picture or clues provided. It included questions on garden equipment.
The event served as a good opportunity for students to gain insight into the various uses of plants. It also generated awareness about the different types of gardens and their benefits.
