The General Virendra Singh Basketball Tournament was organised by R.S. Junior Modern School from 31 January to 4 February 2023. A team comprising boys and girls from class 5 participated in the tournament. The event saw the participation of 20 schools including DPS Mathura Road, Lotus Valley School, Sanskriti School, Bluebells International and Air Force Bal Bharti.
The tournament invited participation in 2 groups, namely Boys and Girls.
Group 1 (Boys) from our School included - Arjun, Aaryan, Vardaan, Devyaansh, Satyam, Tanish, Tanmay, Ruhaan, Ayush, Rajvar.
Group 2 (Girls) comprised of Gurnek, Gunseerat, Nancy, Unnati, Sanskriti, Eshaani, Devika, Riya.
The basketball court at Modern School was filled with excitement as the participating teams got set for the tournament. The participants were duly briefed about the rules of the game. The atmosphere was a sight to behold with the performances of the players who electrified the audience with their game. The players displayed great skills amidst cheers from the audience!
The games were exhilarating. It was a celebration of the true spirit of sportsmanship, which says that participating is more important than winning. The budding players were beset by various emotions like apprehension, pride, aggression. But at the end they learned that a game is not only about winning it is also about knowing how to accept defeat gracefully. It is about trying to strategise and also evaluate ones strengths and weaknesses and taking pride in representing ones School.
