Interaction on Human Rights with Ms. Zena Sorabjee
On 17th August 2016, a wisdom enhancement session on Human Rights was organised with Ms. Zena Sorabjee. Also present at the session was Dr. Mrs. Nayana Garodia, vice chairperson of The Indian School. Ms Sorabjee is the chairman of The BahaI House of Worship, Lotus Charitable Trust and Lotus Hospital Trust. She has represented the BahaI community at The U.N Millennium Conference for World Religious Leaders.
The aim of the session was to create awareness among the students about their basic rights. To begin with, Ms. Sorabjee enlightened our students about the establishment of the UN and its functions. Later, she introduced a book written by her titled The Right To Be in which she has given a detailed account of thirty human rights in the form of stories.
The session was followed by the narration of a few of these stories. This was accompanied with an interesting interactive session between her and the students of class VII. She not only offered the students answers from daily life but also appreciated the awareness levels of the students of at School.
The interactive session was an enriching one. It provided interesting insight about our human rights and the need for each individual to maintain them.
