Intra School (semi classical) Solo Singing competition

An intra-school solo singing competition was organised for classes X and XI by the School music department on 21st January 2017. The category for solo singing was Hindustani (semi-classical), where students were to sing a semi-classical song, choosing between a ghazal, thumri, dadra, kajri and hori, to name a few. The judges for the event were Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary, Mr. Rajeev Massey and Co-curricular captain of our School, Chinmaya Iyer (XIIB).

The audience was truly mesmerised by some beautiful renditions of timeless ghazals such as aaj jane ki zid na karo, ranjish hi sahi and aap ki nazron ne samjha. The participants also presented the joyful kajri, barsan laagi badariya, the sorrowful thumri yaad piya ki aye and romantic hori mohe rang do laal.

The students who participated were: Singers: Milanpreet Kaur (XB), Shivangini Sharma (XC), Feby Lukose (XIB), Nisha Kumari (XIB), Saruby Sharma (XIB) and Arunima Palit (XID). Instrumentalists: Sehej Kaur Bedi (XE) (Harmonium), Sehaj Singh (XB) (Tabla) and Sanatan Srivastav (XIB) (Tabla). Mr. Gopinath Swain and Mr. Siddharth Dalbehera, ( School faculty) provided the accompaniment on the violin and flute.
