Kaleidoscope 2016 art competition by The Hindustan Times
Kaleidoscope 2016 organised by The Hindustan Times is an on-the-spot-painting competition held each year on the India Gate lawns. This year it was held on 1st December, 2016.
As we approached the venue, the student band of Laxman Public School, entertained the audience with bagpipes and drums.
Over a 1000 students from 500 schools across Delhi and the NCR participated in the event. There were two categories, Junior, for classes 4 to 6 and Senior, for classes 7 to 9. The themes for the junior category were A magical Garden and A Book Jacket and for the senior category they were A Smart City and Innovative Invention.
The students who participated were: Eeya Gupta (VI-E), Huma Saifi (VI-D), Mehul Tondon (IX-A) and Khushi Kedia (VIII-C). The material provided to the students was a blank A3 sized sheet each. Students brought along their own brushes and paints. They were given the option of using either oil pastels or water colours.
The judges for the contest were eminent artists Nupur Kundu, Kanchan Chander and Annapoorana Segal. While waiting for the results to be announced, magician Krishna Gopal kept the crowds entertained. An interesting workshop on Calligraphy Art was also organised for the benefit of participants and their accompanying teachers by Staedtler. A welcome opportunity!
The entire event was well-organised and a delight to attend, set as it was in the lush surroundings of India Gate. We came back with many pleasant memories.
