Laurels at CBSE chess event.

Chess is an exercise of infinite possibilities for the mind, one which develops mental abilities, concentration, critical thinking, abstract reasoning, problem-solving, pattern-recognition, strategic planning, creativity, analysis and

evaluation, to name a few. EDUTECH CHESS

Not for nothing is chess known as the game of kings. No doubt the rulers of empires and kingdoms saw in the game, a fitting practice for strategising and they were required to constantly do. Countless research studies have shown over the years that chess does indeed strengthen a childs mental clarity, fortitude, stability and overall health. Many schools are now finding chess as an inexpensive and essential way of helping students grow mentally.

Keeping the above in mind, CBSE has inducted chess as a part of their co-curricular activities and organised competitions by dividing CBSE schools cross country, into 5 zones. 61 schools from the North Zone which included Delhi, NCR, UP and Punjab, participated in the tournament held at Mother Divine Public School in Rohini from 16 to 18 October, 2015.

Indianites of category Under19 were finalists and qualified to compete in the CBSE Nationals to be held in December 2015 at Kolkata. Members of the team are AANSH GUPTA and ADITYA SHARMA of class IX and SHIRSH KUMAR and ARYAN KAKKAR of class X.

Aansh Gupta of class IX was adjudged Best Player in the Under-19 category after winning all 6 games in the North Zone contest.

This is the first time we participated in the Mixed Under 10 category, where the children made a mark by coming 6th aming 31 schools of the North Zone. UDAY SONI of class IV, VISHAL KUNWAR, AARUSH PRAKASH SOOD and HARSH GUPTA of class V.
