Math Investigatory Project event

The XXXIV Shri R.S. Niamat Rai Rajpal Memorial Contest of Investigatory Projects in Mathematics took place on Monday, 8 December 2025, at Springdales School, Pusa Road. The event aimed to encourage pupils to apply mathematical concepts to real-life scenarios through research and investigation, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject.

Our School team comprising four students from class XI, Aarav Bansal, Upasana Khatua, Kushagra Rai and Arohi Sen, presented the project “The Genetic Gamble: Unravelling the Odds of Polygenic Risk Scores”. The project explored the application of mathematical models, including linear scaling, geometric progressions, and statistics, to assess disease risk. The presentation highlighted the limitations of genetic predictions, emphasising the role of lifestyle and environmental factors alongside genetic data.

Other teams presented projects on topics such as mathematics in music therapy, pothole analysis, and air pollution trends. The competition provided a valuable learning experience, honing research and presentation skills and encouraging critical thinking through interactions with judges and participants. It was a great learning experience for the students and the uniqueness of the topic and the efforts of the students were appreciated by the judges.

The event was both informative and inspiring, reinforcing the significance of mathematics beyond textbooks and classrooms.
